Hello to the 1000th hit, and my first blog award, whoop whoop!!

As they say in Hull, ‘Where’s tha bin Lass?’…..well… I’s ‘been’ away for a week in the Tropical North to attend a fabulous wedding, drink and eat too much with my girlfriends, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef (don’t get too jealous, it was low visibility and pretty damn cold at this time of year!) and generally have some time out from the internet to instead spend some time in the actual, virtual world :)

The last stop of the Ghan trip will be up soon, just in case anyone really is waiting with baited breath for it…..  I can’t quite believe that at some point today someone, somewhere in the world, ‘hit’ my blog and ticked the counter over to 1000.  When I first started this blog I was doubtful that anyone outside of my family and friends would bother to read it.  So I’m pretty stoked to also get a blog award today from a fellow blogger who has THE most fascinating, hysterically historical posts, researched from actual newspaper archives, Buried Words go look, go look!!

Pretty aint it?  Now I’m not entirely sure how you actually pass the art work on……but copy and paste worked for me just in case I nominate anyone who like me hasn’t been awarded anything before and is also a bit clueless!  The rules are that you give your lovely readers “7 things you might not know about me” and nominate 15 of your favourite/most worthy bloggers…..so here goes:

  1. I have two tattoos…..yes, TWO….some may say shameful for a Nanna, I say, “I care not a jot”
  2. I like neither gravy or custard
  3. I stopped eating animal meat in February this year but still eat fish, so not technically a vegetarian?
  4. I’m an Atheist
  5. I was born with dislocated hips and spent my first six months in splints so I’d be able to walk when I was old enough – and eventually complete a marathon.
  6. I was diagnosed with Raynauds Syndrome when I was 5……..it’s basically just really poor circulation and sensitivity to cold weather and sudden changes in temperature (cooler) – but might explain why I was always so desperate to live in a warmer country.
  7. I like peanut butter and nutella sandwiches….yes that’s right, in the same sandwich, there I said it.

Now for 15 lovely bloggers…….

Jesse Roesler Please, please, go to his blog and watch his short film “Give me your hungry” – it may change your life, or at the very least get you thinking and admiring an incredible and gifted documentary maker.

Seventh Voice I wish I was half as good as she is at poetry

Wai-Yuk Textile Art If you love crafts and art you will be stunned by what this woman produces, just a beautiful blog to look at and read.

Go Jules Go The mustachios cheer me up on a daily basis….and don’t even get me started on the chipmunks…

Greetings From England  East meets West in a blog that has photos that make me a wee bit homesick…..

Beradadisini Because she loves books too :)

Will Run For Glitter  As should everyone, including the boys, and also for Gummi Bears

Travel Monkey Best idea for a travel buddy ever…

Folded Cranes A lovely couple and few hundred folded cranes

I broke my glasses again Makes me laugh….a lot

Top of the apple   Food Glorious Food!!! Please Sir can I have some more?

Daily Nibbles not just food, but all looks delish :)

I only wish I could put everyone in this list that I follow; if you’re not on there it’s because you already have this award or that I just didn’t get to you in my list of blogs and was restricted by the criteria.

Thanks again to the person who nominated me, I’m basking shamelessly right now!!

  1. Congratulations! That is AWESOME. And thank you so much for the nomination – that makes me as happy as a chipmunk on a Friday at 4pm EST (when they get out of work for the week)!

I love reading the facts people include with their awards. Peanut butter and Nutella sandwiches are a staple around this house. Although so is meat, LOL (I was a vegetarian for a long time, though, if you’re ever looking for new recipes!)

    Thank you again so much!

  2. Yay! Thank you so much for the nomination! By the way you are way more hip than me, I don’t have any tattoos (just yet) ;-)

Don't be shy and just reply, I like a bit of chit chat after my posts.
