Nanna Prawn has been in a bit of a funk with post holiday blues and the start of second semester so this week I let myself off my leash and went to a ‘gig’ as my kids call it, or a ‘jig’ as I call it. And boy am I glad I did. With a couple of friends, my daughter and my ‘almost-son-in-law’ I had the best mid-week lift of spirits with a $30 ticket to see Passenger (and two support acts) at the Hi Fi, Bris-Vegas!!
Now I can’t pretend to be all genned up on current musical trends or even begin to describe the vast range of music I listen to but I can thoroughly recommend this guy (Mike, of Passenger). He’s from Brighton, and is a singer/songwriter who busked his way around Europe and Australia previously so that he could pay to record his first EP. Busking is a pretty hard gig in itself and his sense of humour and personable nature are probably what made him so popular in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall. For a taste of why he is so special, and how he manages to attract such a diverse demographic of ages to his music, (along with a big dollop of Brisbane, The Great Ocean Road, and Byron Bay Lighthouse), head to his latest release on Youtube; and for you lucky people in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart you still have chance to see Mike on his current tour – Get thee there!!! it’s $30 well worth spending…..especially if you’re in need of a mood lifting jig
Congrats. Your Blog has been nominated fr anther award today.
